KARAM BIOSCIENCE Benchmark Consortium Public scope outline / 2026-10-15 Proposed research work, not an accepted engagement or demonstrated result. DECISION A consortium can fund a comparison that one developer would struggle to justify alone. The proposed pilot asks a narrow question about performance or reproducibility. It requires rules for data access, publication and intellectual property before any sponsor pays; sponsorship cannot buy a favorable result. READINESS Partner-dependent concept PLANNING BUDGET; NOT A QUOTE Pilot concept: 3 sponsors × $20,000 TIMING CONDITION Schedule after protocol and rights agreement DELIVERABLES Common benchmark question: Define the model, comparison and intended decision so unlike experiments are not ranked as if identical. Independent evaluation plan: Select comparison methods, held-out evaluation and failure criteria before examining favorable outcomes. Rights and publication framework: Specify sponsor access, publication timing, confidentiality and treatment of improvements. Comparison report: Report uncertainty, limitations, discordant results and reproducible evaluation outputs. INPUTS A repeated problem shared by multiple sponsors, available methods, authorized reference data, independent reviewers and a realistic laboratory or analysis budget. ACCEPTANCE A completed, reproducible comparison against the agreed protocol—not a winner selected in advance. The proposed $60,000 pilot total is planning arithmetic, not committed sponsorship. BOUNDARIES No sponsors, laboratory capacity or consortium are represented as already signed. Participation does not confer ownership of other parties’ background technology.
