Population doubling time

Estimate growth over an interval using a simple exponential model and two cell-count observations.

Method & assumptions

Both counts and elapsed time must be positive. The model assumes exponential growth over the interval. No growth or decline does not yield a positive doubling time. Faster growth is not evidence of rejuvenation, healthy identity, or safety.

Sanity check

Growth from 100,000 to 400,000 cells over 48 hours is two doublings, or a 24-hour doubling time.

Population doublings = log2(Nfinal/Ninitial)
Doubling time = elapsed time / population doublings
